Bummer
Well, no one made our 10-10-10 goal. Unless Wendy finds her scale and discovers a miraculous weight loss over the past few weeks...unlikely, but possible. Dad gets a gold star for being the closest with a 7 pound loss over the last 10 weeks, I was right behind him with 6. As it stands, our total weight loss is as follows:
Mom: 10.1
Dad: 10
Wendy: 7.7
Brandi: 10.2
Beth: 14
I'd say its still any one's game. Thanksgiving might be a challenge, just remember that every bite you put in your mouth counts. If you want some of everything, just take a little bit of everything. Try using a smaller plate so it still looks like a lot of food. No one is ever still hungry after dinner, its just that it looks, smells, and tastes so good. Eat slow and enjoy that first plate so there is no need for seconds. If the temptation is too strong, think about the pie. Seconds and pie is not okay, which would you prefer? We have about a month left until the final weigh-in and $250 is at stake. How many rolls, mashed potatoes, and pie would you not eat for $250? In all honesty, I'd probably skip Thanksgiving all together if it was a guaranteed win...nothing is guaranteed, but I promise you won't later wish that you have eaten more, good choices feel good forever. Come on Fat Brames! We can be healthy! My goal is to be in my "healthy" weight range by the time I turn 30...that's another 50 pounds. At 10 pounds a year, I'll never make it...its time to kick this game into a serious gear. We are all in this together...we have some pretty terrible genes working against all of us, and we don't want to cut ourselves short by making bad choices! Be Good, and be thankful for the opportunity we have to better ourselves and strive for a healthier life style.

Alright...The reporting has been struggling, and I've been struggling getting any info out, but this is the info I have to date from each of you.
So, Obviously, I'm winning...I already have the double jogging stroller picked out that I'm going to buy with my $250 Woot Woot

October 2
Jeremy made the table for me, and I don't know what I did to make such a huge space, sorry.
Here we are:
This is the first week that everyone lost! I'm guessing Big sister lost some because she was brave enough to report it this week, unlike her intentional lack of reporting last week due to some bad choices. But Big Congrats to Middle Sister who has dropped to the next set of "10s" (like dropping from the blank-20's to the blank-10's) which I think is a significant milestone and must feel so good-woot woot! I have reached the exact weight that I was when I found out I was pregnant with Baby #2, which I'm finding feels really good despite the still 30+ pounds I'd like to loose. My goal this week is to drop to the next set of 10's which I haven't been in since before Baby #1. Mom and Dad have been very good at weight reporting, but haven't given me any details other than the numbers, so good job to them.
That being said though, we still collectively weigh more than half a ton! There are trucks out there that can't even haul all of us...something to think about. If you do ponder on that for a while, also think about how truly wonderful we'll look WHEN we reach our individual goals...it is possible, it is important, and it IS going to happen--because we can do hard things...one choice at a time.

For the Week of 9/18
Total to date loss:
Mom: 6
Big Sister: 8
Middle Sister: 6.6
Little Sister: 8
Dad: 3
Shame on Mom for Gaining this week. Shame on "Little Sister" for making no progress. Woot Woot to "Middle Sister" for her 2--count em-2 pound loss this week. And Dad is gaining ground with his 3 pound loss. Big sister had a loss, but only because she counts ever 1/10 of a pound--still, at least it is indeed in the right direction.

10-10-10 Sprint
Okay we have 10 weeks until Thanksgiving...what I propose is a Sprint. 10 weeks to loose 10 pounds, and anyone who is successful gets $10 from the pot. This means 10 "new" pounds. Not a total of 10 pounds by thanksgiving. If you fail to do so, you're not out anything, and whatever you have lost is added into your total. But if you make it, you get 10 of your dollars back, and you're that much closer to a potential win of the entire remaining pot. I'm still waiting to hear every one's weigh in for the week, but that will be your starting point for this new mini-challenge. The overall competition continues as normal throughout the next 10 weeks, and you are still required to e-mail me your weight weekly, this is just a little incentive. You can weigh in on November 25th (Thanksgiving) for that week, and as an added bonus, if you make your 10 pounds, I will not require a weigh-in on November 27, which means you won't have to confess what thanksgiving did to your progress. Participation is optional, but encouraged, unless you're chicken, or should I say Turkey.

It Starts
So shortly after having my 3rd baby, I talked my mom and 2 of my sisters into participating in a weight-loss competition. We all put in $50 in a winner-takes-all quest for decrease in poundage. When we started this, on May 1st, I think we all had high hopes of instant success, but as it is now September and we've all been diligent at making excuses as to why our success is so minor, I think its time for some kind of a jump start. We've got a support group, we're all pretty poor, so we've got motivation, we just need some drive. But here our loss stands, with 15 weeks to go:
Mom: 7
Big Sister: 7.7
Middle Sister: 4.6
Little Sister: 8
Dad: 0
Dad is a recent addition to the game, so his lack of loss is understandable, the rest of us are all talk and no action. But perhaps a blog will aid in our quest. If nothing else, it'll be fun!
